Design of a Low-Distortion 22-kHz Fifth-Order Bessel Filter

چکیده
Abs&act-A linearity improvement technique employing passive resistors and current-steering MOS transistors as a variable resistance element is proposed to implement a low-distortion filter in CMOS technology. This proposed implementation relies on the linearity of the passive resistors and the tunability of the current-steering MOS transistors operating in the triode region to overcome the limited linearity performance in continuous-time electronically tunable filters. By using the existing systematic feedback loops in the active filters and placing the nonlinear elements inside the feedback, the distortion resulting from the nonlinear devices is greatly reduced by the filter loop gain. A 22kHz fifthth-order Bessel filter, its dynamic range optimized by applying Karmarkar’s resealing algorithm and self-tuned with a switched-capacitor reference resistor, demonstrates better than –90-dB THD with a 2-kHz, 4Vpp signal in 5-V 2-~m CMOS.

متن کاملA Low Voltage, Low Power Cmos Fifth Order Elliptic Low Pass Gm-c Filter for Direct Conversion Receiver
This paper presents the fifth-order elliptic low-pass Gm-C filter (LPF) used in direct conversion receivers for Zigbee applications. The proposed LPF is designed based on rail-to-rail differential input voltage transconductance amplifier (OTA). The high linearity OTA is designed by combining two previous linearization techniques in [3] and [4]. The 5-order elliptic low-pass GmC filter has a tun...
متن کاملA 8.25-MHz 7th-order Bessel filter built with MOSFET–C single-amplifier biquads
The 7th-order Bessel filter presented in this paper has an edge frequency that is continuously tunable from 4.5 MHz up to 10 MHz. It was fabricated with the 0.6-micron CMOS process by AMS, covers a chip area of 0.24 mm2, and consumes 49 mW from a 3.3-V supply. The SNR at −40 dB of harmonic distortion is between 48 dB and 50 dB over the whole tuning range. The comparatively low power consumption...

A very low voltage 9th order linear phase baseband switched capacitor (SC) filter has been designed to be used as part of a cellular GSM (Global System Mobile) receiver. A Gaussian-to-6dB filter of the order of seven is chosen and a second order function is added to reduce the group delay variations around. The filter uses a fully differential topology to increase the dynamic range and reduce t...

This paper is a practical guide to building higher-order filters with single-amplifier biquadratic MOSFET–C sections. Theory, design guidelines, and measurement electronics are discussed by example of a 7th-order current-mode filter built to the specifications of a 1× DVD read channel filter. The 7th-order filter was fabricated with the double-poly 0.6-micron CMOS process by AMS. It is continuo...
